Located in the heart of Ho, the hospital has played an important role in providing healthcare to generations of individuals, families and communities.

Ho Municipal Hospital Recognised for High Performance at 2025 Volta Regional Health Review

At the 2025 Annual Performance Review of the Volta Regional Health Directorate, held in March 2026, Ho Municipal Hospital was one of the facilities honoured for high performance, alongside Sogakope District Hospital — while Keta Municipal Hospital was named the region's overall best-performing hospital for the year.

The Volta Region's health sector performance score rose to 4.2, up from 3.8 the year before, moving the region from a moderately-performing to a highly-performing region — according to the Regional Director of Health Services at the Annual Health Sector Performance Review in Ho.

Free Primary Healthcare Programme Launched Nationwide

President John Dramani Mahama officially launched Ghana's Free Primary Healthcare Programme on 15 April 2026 at the Shai Osudoku District Hospital in the Greater Accra Region. It is rolling out in phases across 150 underserved districts nationwide by 2028, offering free outpatient, maternal and child health, screening and basic laboratory services at CHPS compounds, health centres and district facilities.
